Naples – A new blow to the Amato-Pagano clan. This morning, the Naples Anti-Mafia Investigative Directorate served a precautionary detention order on Antonio Pompilio, known as "o' Cafone," believed to be a leading figure in the Camorra organization.
The order, issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Naples at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, charges Pompilio with the crimes of mafia-type association and robbery. The order is dated November 28, 2024, but was initially not executed due to the untraceability of the suspect, who was later located in Spain.
Arrest in Spain and extradition
On January 15, the investigating judge of Naples had requested the issuance of a European arrest warrant, later authorized by the Central Court of Madrid on August 5, 2025.
In fact, Pompilio had already been arrested in Barcelona on January 17th pursuant to another European arrest warrant and extradited to Italy in March. Since then, he had been held in Civitavecchia prison, where he was notified of the new precautionary measure today.
The role in the clan
According to the investigation, coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, Pompilio allegedly served as leader, promoter, and organizer within the Amato-Pagano clan, with jurisdiction primarily in the Mugnano and Melito di Napoli areas.
Investigators also indicate him as the contact person for the management of drug trafficking from Spain to Italy, in agreement with the regents and heads of the organization's families.
The maxi-operation of 2024
Pompilio's capture is part of a large-scale operation conducted on December 17, 2024, against the Amato-Pagano clan, which had already led to the arrest of numerous members. They are currently awaiting a preliminary hearing before the Court of Naples.

It's interesting to see how the authorities are addressing the mafia problem in Italy. However, I wonder if Pompilio's arrest will have a real impact on the Amato-Pagano clan or if there will be others ready to take his place.
