Rome – Food alert in supermarkets Carrefour The chain announced the recall of four products, three of which were due to microbiological risks caused by the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes, a dangerous bacterium that can cause serious infections, especially in children, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals.

Those under recall are:

Cod cutlet in batter (200 g, Carrefour Il Mercato brand, batch 5212531, expiry date August 18 – recall August 8);
Breaded Alaska pollock fillets (220 g, Carrefour Il Mercato brand, batch 5213532, expiry date August 18 – recall August 9);
“La Belle du Bocage” goat cheese (various sizes, expiry date July 25th to August 13th – recall August 11th).

The fourth product, Granarolo Mozzarella maxi pack 3 (batch N5205E, expiry date August 18 – recall August 13), was recalled due to the possible presence of metal particles.

Health risk and recommendations

Listeria monocytogenes can cause symptoms such as fever, muscle aches, headache, nausea, and, in severe cases, meningitis and dangerous pregnancy complications. Carrefour recommends that customers in possession of the listed products not consume them and return them to the store for a refund or dispose of them safely.
