ROME. "We find it absurd, not to say shameful, that after three years of work, the solution found by the Brothers of Italy and the League to remedy the flaws in the medical device payback program consists of approving an amendment to the Economy Decree. This establishes, on the one hand, the restitution of funds to multinationals and, on the other, the direction for small and medium-sized Italian businesses to apply for loans (read: access to a guarantee fund) to cover shortfalls in the state and regional budgets. This is a condemnation to failure." This is what Gennaro Broya de Lucia, president of Conflavoro Pmi Sanità, and Michele Colaci, president of Confapi Sanità, stated in a joint statement.
"By doing so," Broya de Lucia and Colaci insist, "we are handing the Italian biomedical and healthcare markets, in general, over to foreign giants." Now, "if this is the government's stance, there will be little confidence among workers and entrepreneurs in the upcoming elections, starting in Veneto, where the payback will claim hundreds of victims among long-standing companies and young entrepreneurs," the two presidents conclude.
It's truly disappointing to see that after so long, we continue to find solutions that don't address the real problems of small businesses. It seems governments aren't listening to the needs of those who work every day.
