In Naples, Ferragosto will be marked by bad weather and extraordinary safety measures. The Municipality has ordered the closure of all city parks and the closure of public beaches, along with a ban on access to the Bagnoli North Pier, for the entire day of Friday, August 15th. The decision was made following the yellow weather alert issued by the Civil Protection Department. Campania, which predicted, from 12pm until midnight, adverse phenomena with possible showers and thunderstorms, even of moderate intensity.
This is a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring the safety of residents and tourists on one of the busiest days of the summer, when the sea and green spaces are particularly appealing. The measure aims to avoid risky situations related to potential flooding, falling branches or trees, and poor visibility in the event of heavy rainfall. Similar weather events have previously caused disruption and accidents, which is why the administration has chosen to act early, restricting access to the most exposed areas.
Citizens are urged to limit non-essential travel during the hours of the alert, paying close attention to weather conditions and the instructions issued by official authorities. Civil protection associations and municipal emergency response teams will also be on high alert throughout the emergency, ready to intervene if necessary.

I think the decision to close parks and beaches is the right one, but I wonder if this won't create problems for tourists who want to enjoy the sea. Safety is important, but so is fun.
