Naples – A severe weather awaits Campania for Ferragosto. The regional Civil Protection Department has issued a yellow-level weather alert, valid for the entire day tomorrow, August 15th, throughout the region.

Rain and thunderstorms are expected, some of which are heavy, with possible hail, lightning, and strong winds, particularly between 12:00 PM and 23:59 PM. According to the Functional Center's assessments, precipitation will be characterized by rapid development and forecast uncertainty, increasing the risk of sudden and locally intense phenomena.

Among the main hazards reported: flooding, rising water levels, water flowing on roads, rockfall, and landslides. Gusts of wind, lightning, and hail could also cause damage to roofs, exposed structures, and public greenery, as well as disruptions related to wave motion.

The Civil Protection Agency urges municipalities to maintain their Municipal Operations Centers (COCs) and adopt all measures set forth in their civil protection plans to prevent and mitigate risks. It is recommended that public green spaces be monitored and updates from the Regional Operations Room be followed to ensure the safety of residents and visitors during the holiday.

This weather warning is a bit worrying; let's hope it's not as bad as they say. But even if it rains, we can't give up celebrating Ferragosto; perhaps we can do something indoors.
