Pozzuoli – A new, intense earthquake has brought attention to the bradyseism of the Phlegraean Fields . At 21:53 PM this evening, seismographs at the Vesuvius Observatory recorded a magnitude 3.0 event, with its epicenter located at a depth of just 1,9 kilometers, precisely on the beach between Lucrino and Arco Felice.
The earthquake, one of the strongest in recent months, was clearly felt throughout the entire Phlegraean Fields area. Residents of Bacoli and Baia reported hearing a distinctive boom before feeling the tremor. Vibrations were also felt in neighboring neighborhoods and municipalities, including Bagnoli, Quarto, Monterusciello, Agnano, Monte di Procida, and Cuma, a sign of its considerable intensity.

This seismic event is part of a pattern of ongoing activity. The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology ( INGV ) confirmed that a total of 5.742 seismic events have been recorded in the area since the beginning of the year, although most of these are very low magnitude. Meanwhile, the director of the Vesuvius Observatory, Mauro Di Vito, has updated the monitoring data from the Solfatara and Pisciarelli, key points of volcanic activity. According to his statements, an increase in gas emissions has been recorded from the Solfatara, while a decrease has been noted from the Pisciarelli. This phenomenon, constantly monitored, is part of the complex dynamics of the Campi Flegrei supervolcano , which continues to make its presence felt.
