Giugliano – Another case of animal cruelty has rocked Giugliano, just hours after the tragedy of the dog starving to death in Varcaturo.

This time, volunteers intervened just in time to save a dog found with an iron chain wrapped tightly around its neck, so tightly that it was digging into its flesh. As reported by Il Mattino, the animal, in agony, was sedated by a veterinarian to allow the chain to be removed and transferred to a safe place.

The discovery comes just 24 hours after the shocking case of a woman who, having left for vacation, abandoned her two dogs, leaving them exposed to the scorching sun. One of the dogs, tied with a mere centimeter-long chain, died after two days of excruciating pain, desperately trying to free himself.

"A new shameful crime against a defenseless animal," said Francesco Emilio Borrelli , MP for the Green-Side Alliance. "After the dog's death in Varcaturo, only the timely intervention of volunteers prevented another tragedy. These acts of unprecedented atrocity cannot go unpunished.

We will continue to monitor until those responsible are punished. I appeal to citizens: don't look the other way, report any dangerous situation for our four-legged friends."

Authorities confirm that investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible for these inhumane acts, while the local community is rallying behind the volunteers, the true heroes of this story. Inspections will continue to combat animal abandonment and abuse.

I agree with you, Barbieri. Animal abuse is increasingly prevalent, and the laws don't seem strict enough. We must all unite to fight this injustice.

It's truly a terrible thing to happen to these animals. I don't understand how anyone could abandon a dog in these conditions. The authorities should do more to protect animals.
