This morning, the waters of Ischia were the scene of a controversial incident, with conflicting versions and an arrest that threatens to escalate into a full-blown legal case.
The unwitting protagonist was a 37-year-old Neapolitan man, who ended up in handcuffs after a sea chase that, according to official reconstruction, culminated in him ramming a police jet ski.
But the defense is promising a fight, announcing that it has a video that would completely overturn the dynamics of the facts.
It all began when officers from the Office of General Prevention and Public Rescue – Marine Section, together with the Port Authority, noticed a vessel under administrative seizure illegally leaving its moorings in the Bay of San Francesco.
Despite repeated orders to stop, the vessel continues its course towards the open sea, forcing the jet skis of the police and a Coast Guard patrol boat in a real maritime blitz.
According to the police, the man intentionally rammed the officer on the jet ski.
According to the police version, the man had deliberately rammed a jet ski, causing the officer who was driving it to fall into the water and forcing him to be admitted to the Rizzoli hospital.
The legal situation is serious: resisting and assaulting a public official, damaging state property, violating security seals, and failing to comply with navigation regulations. But the defense, led by lawyers Sergio Pisani and Marco Cioffi, presents a different story.
"Our client was livestreaming the entire scene on Facebook," the lawyers explained to ANSA, "and those images show a completely different dynamic." The video, which will be filed tomorrow with the Naples Court, according to them shows a head-on impact with the police jet ski, with background music documenting normal navigation up until the collision.
The arrested man's lawyers talk about a video that shows more
"It's worrying that this reconstruction led to the arrest," the defense lawyers say. "We will do everything we can to uncover the truth." This promise transforms what might have seemed like a routine incident in the fight against administrative violations into a potential legal mystery, with the truth perhaps not yet fully revealed.
