Ischia – A small piece of white electrical tape turns the letter "E" into an "F" on your license plate, fooling cameras in restricted traffic zones.
This is the ruse devised by a 24-year-old woman from Ischia, discovered during checks by the local Carabinieri. The young woman, reported for using tampered license plates and forgery, allegedly used the trick to bypass electronic checkpoints, a system that—according to investigations—is often used by young Neapolitan drivers to move freely within the Marechiaro and Bagnoli restricted traffic zones .
But that wasn't the only incident uncovered during the checks. The officers also reported a 30-year-old man with no criminal record, caught near the docks of the commercial port with a knife in his backpack: he was charged with unjustified possession of a cutting weapon.
Another arrest involved a 46-year-old Albanian man, who was stopped while siphoning gasoline from the tanks of several scooters parked on the street, collecting it in plastic bottles. The man will be charged with aggravated theft.
The Carabinieri's operations have also extended to the tourism sector. In Casamicciola, two vacation rental managers were reported for failing to provide police with the personal details of some guests, a requirement required by current legislation.
This article is very interesting, but I found many things wrong. Using duct tape to change the letters on a license plate is truly unbelievable and dangerous. Road safety should be the priority.
