Montecorvino Rovella - Lawyer Michele Gallo met him briefly last night in prison, before the interrogation.

His client, Christian Persico, 36, accused of the murder of Tina (Assunta) Sgarbini—the woman strangled in her home in Montecorvino Rovella, in the province of Salerno—appeared "calm and lucid." But he didn't speak.

Persico, according to what his lawyer told ANSA, chose to exercise his right to remain silent. The brief meeting took place shortly before the interrogation, which was conducted late that evening at the Carabinieri barracks in Battipaglia.

Beyond his personal details, the man declined to provide any statement to investigators. He may decide to do so during the preliminary hearing to be held in the coming days before the investigating judge of the Salerno Court.

The defense strategy, for now, is silence. A wall of silence against which the investigation into the violent death of Tina Sgarbini, found dead in her apartment, continues.

The lawyer then clarified: "I explained to him his rights and discretion, as a defense attorney should. Then we'll see how the situation unfolds. I hadn't even received the order last night. He should be under arrest, but beyond that, I'm waiting to review everything in detail."

And the alleged murderer's lawyer also wanted to clarify the rumor circulating about a supposed note the man left for his mother, telling her he'd done something stupid. The lawyer wouldn't comment. "I've heard there's talk of this note. But I don't know anything about it. I have no certainty as to whether it exists or what its contents might be," Gallo concluded.

Meanwhile, the man who had expressed suicidal intentions has begun his new life as an inmate in Fuorni prison and will have time to reflect on the barbarity of his act.

It's true, it seems strange that a defense attorney has no certain information about what could be a crucial clue. The strategy of silence may have its reasons, but it's creating confusion among those following the case.

The article discusses a very complex and delicate situation, but it seems to me that there's too much unclear information. I don't understand why the lawyer knows nothing about the ticket and how the client can remain silent.
