Naples – A wave of extraordinary checks hit Neapolitan nightlife during the Ferragosto weekend, with the Carabinieri busy patrolling key areas of the city.

From the bars of Chiaia to the alleys of the historic center and the squares of Vomero, the operation resulted in a severe toll: a flurry of complaints, seizures, fines, and violations of every kind.

Chiaia: knives, illegal parking attendants, and reckless driving

In the heart of Naples' most elegant neighborhood, the Carabinieri caught two young men in possession of cutting weapons. A fifty-year-old man, already known to law enforcement, was reported for continuing to illegally manage a parking lot.

Road safety was no exception: dozens of fines were issued, vehicles were seized, and motorcyclists were caught riding without helmets. Three young people were reported as drug users.

Historic Center: Licenses withdrawn and roadblocks enforced

In the labyrinthine Historic Center, law enforcement pressure has led to nine reports. Among the most high-profile cases, three people were found driving without licenses, despite previous violations. A fifty-year-old man attempted to evade a checkpoint but was caught and apprehended after a brief chase.

Three criminals, subject to legal obligations, were not found at their homes. A foreign drug dealer, caught selling a dose, was also reported. A switchblade was found and seized during a search.

Vomero: Thieves, Parking Lottery Operators, and Illegal Venues

The Carabinieri's action also hit home on the Vomero hill. Six men were reported: two illegal parking attendants, a thief caught red-handed in a supermarket, and three young men caught driving without a license.

Inspections of the premises revealed widespread irregularities, with undeclared employees, illegal occupation of public land, and serious hygiene deficiencies. Two businesses were fined over €4, while nearly 40 kilos of dairy products were seized.

The final balance

The extraordinary operation yielded significant numbers: over 300 people identified, more than 130 vehicles checked, dozens of complaints filed, and 11 drug-related reports. This operation demonstrated the determination of law enforcement in combating the degradation and lawlessness that often accompany nightlife.

It's a very informative article describing the current situation in Naples during the nightlife, but there are many things that could be improved, especially regarding checks by the police, which seem insufficient.
