The Guardia di Finanza (Financial Police) has cracked down on the sale of counterfeit goods and illegal trading in the heart of Naples. On the evenings of August 5th and 7th, the "green berets" of the Emergency Operations Group, acting on orders from the Provincial Command, intensified checks along Via Toledo, a shopping street and tourist destination often besieged by illegal street vendors, especially in the evening hours.
The toll is heavy: over 8.700 items illegally displayed without a license and 740 counterfeit SSC Napoli shirts and merchandise were seized. Two people were reported for counterfeiting and receiving stolen goods, while three others were reported for illegal trading.
Among them, a foreign citizen found to be illegally present in Italy was immediately transferred to the Immigration Office to initiate expulsion procedures.
The operation is part of a strategy of constant monitoring, the Provincial Command explains, with the aim of protecting the legal economy and restoring decorum and livability to the city's busiest areas, particularly during the summer months when tourism is at its peak.
