Naples – A body abandoned on the asphalt, in one of the streets of the elegant Chiaia neighborhood. This is the mystery the Naples Carabinieri are trying to solve after last night's grisly discovery on Via Andrea D'Isernia.

The victim is a man, estimated to be in his fifties, likely of North African origin. Passersby reported the lifeless body, already in an advanced state of rigidity, shortly after midnight. The alarm was immediately raised on the scene.

A deployment of law enforcement officers intervened: officers from the Naples Central Carabinieri Company and the Posillipo Carabinieri Station arrived to cordon off the area and conduct initial investigations. Shortly thereafter, the scene was taken over by specialists: the Investigative Unit and the Scientific Investigations Section (SIS) of the Naples Carabinieri began the delicate investigation to search for clues, biological traces, and any other information useful in reconstructing the circumstances of the death.

The first, crucial question is the victim's identity. The man had no identification documents with him, making the identification process more complex. Investigators are examining several leads: comparisons with missing persons reports, fingerprints, and any unusual physical characteristics.

But the question that haunts the entire investigation is a single one: what led this man to die on the street? The condition of the body and the scene where he was found immediately raised suspicions among the police.

The possibility of homicide has not been ruled out. Forensic tests, including an autopsy ordered by the Prosecutor's Office, will be crucial to establishing the precise cause of death and whether the cause was blunt force trauma, stab wounds, gunshot wounds, or signs of assault.

Investigators are currently working on two parallel fronts: first, identifying the faceless man on Via D'Isernia, and second, determining whether it was a sudden illness, an accident, or a criminal act. Security cameras in the area have already been seized, and officers are canvassing the area to gather any witnesses.

The incident has cast a shadow over the usually quiet and lively neighborhood. It's a mystery the Carabinieri intend to solve as soon as possible.
