Naples – The cocaine seized yesterday from 15-year-old Mauro Ferri, a courier with no criminal record and above suspicion, had a street value of €25 million.
The young man, originally from Soccavo, was arrested thanks to the collaboration between the Guardia di Finanza and the Naples Flying Squad, at the end of a daring chase that took place through the streets of Melito up to Scampia when the young man, on the run, crashed his car into other parked vehicles.
Two bags in the car contained 70 blocks of cocaine, weighing a total of 80 kilograms . After the usual formalities, the young man was taken to Secondigliano prison, and an investigation began to determine who the drugs were intended for and where they came from.
In short, the job now is to uncover the entire drug trafficking chain involving the young and unsuspecting courier. Investigators are analyzing his cell phone to uncover all his contacts through chats and messages and trace the suppliers and buyers of that huge drug shipment.
The car used is also being investigated: who registered it to, and if it was rented, where, and from whom. Meanwhile, the unsuspecting young man has been held in Secondigliano prison since yesterday, awaiting preliminary hearing.
It's incredible how such a young man could be involved in such a large-scale drug trafficking operation. I hope the investigation will uncover the true perpetrators of all this. Safety must be everyone's priority.
