Naples – A decision that marks the end of an era and highlights a revolution in the pre-match experience at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
Napoli has decided to change the voice that has accompanied and warmed up the Azzurri fans for fifteen years, replacing the historic speaker Daniele "Decibel" Bellini with a new entertainment project created by Golden Boys, the company of the Palumbo brothers, which includes the famous Neapolitan rapper Geolier
The announcement came with an official club statement, establishing a partnership for "entertainment management" at all home games. Golden Boys, founded to develop projects in the music and events sector, will work with Napoli to oversee the complete artistic direction of matchday: from DJ sets to the music program, and even selecting the speaker.
The speaker will be the well-known DJ Timo Suarez
The first event is already scheduled: Saturday, August 30th, for Napoli-Cagliari, resident DJ Enrico Maria will take the decks, while Timo Suarez will take the mic. The club promises a rotation of "numerous guests and artists" to liven up the pre-match action this season.
The official statement takes this opportunity to thank Bellini, who "has contributed to telling iconic moments in the Club's history." A look back, however, is not enough to soothe the bitterness of those who have been making that history since March 2010, when Bellini – DJ and unmistakable voice – took the stage during an unforgettable Napoli-Juventus 3-1.
Decibel Bellini's bitter farewell
It was on social media that the speaker bid farewell to his audience with a message filled with regret, but also pride: "Whatever happens," he wrote, "know that I've always done my best and shown respect to everyone. I've always given my all, never holding back. Sometimes, however, doing your best isn't enough."
A phrase that sounds like a touching farewell and sums up the feeling of a difficult farewell. Napoli's move seems decidedly focused on a generational change and a more musical and youthful show format, leveraging its brand and connections in the music world (Geolier had already collaborated with the club on the soundtrack for "Sarò con te" and for the Scudetto celebrations).
A revolution that, like all revolutions, is divisive. On the one hand, there's enthusiasm for a new, more modern and glamorous direction; on the other, there's sadness for the end of a historic bond and for the voice that, for so many fans, was the very sound of their football afternoons.

Napoli's decision to change their speaker is a somewhat perplexing one. Bellini made history, and now there's a new project that might not be well received by fans; we'll see how it goes.
I don't know if the new speaker, Timo Suarez, can replace Bellini; his voice was unique. I just hope the changes bring something positive and don't disappoint the fans' expectations.
