Naples - To call what happened yesterday at the Campania Regional Council headquarters controversial is an understatement.
Two well-known and much-talked-about Neapolitan TikTokers, Rita De Crescenzo and Angelo Napolitano, were hosted in the offices of the Azione group leader, Pasquale Di Fenza.
So far, nothing strange, if the private visit hadn't turned into a farce and a mockery of the institutions, such as the tricolor flag and the Italian anthem, with the complicity of the regional councilor.
In some videos posted on the two TikTok users' social media and reposted by Green Party MP Francesco Eemilio Borrelli, the two clearly appear to be having fun with Di Fenza, waving the Italian flag that was in the office and that read "Work in progress." As if to say, "We're coming."
In recent months, the controversial TikTok user Rita De Crescenzo had approached the Five Star Movement, expressing her alleged intention to run for office. A few days ago, appliance entrepreneur Angelo Napolitano, a close friend of De Crescenzo's and whose son is an employee of hers, also expressed his alleged intention to run.
De Luca's condemnation of the "farce" in the regional offices is expected.
Then yesterday, the farce in the Regional Council. And now we expect President De Luca to come out and condemn the episode in his own terms.
MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli weighed in on the matter: "Seeing the Campania Regional Council's headquarters being used to stage a farce with TikTok users saddens me deeply. Institutions bowing to rampant charlatanism is a terrible sign. There's nothing to laugh about, nothing to be proud of. Only social degradation and terrible examples held up as role models, even in places of representation."

I find it strange that two TikTok users were received in an official venue and that the whole thing became an entertainment event. It's important for institutions to maintain a certain decorum, otherwise they risk losing credibility.
