A silent yet powerful gesture that pierces the veil of indifference. Doctors, nurses, and support staff at the Colli Hospital in Naples , which includes the Monaldi, Cotugno, and CTO hospitals, joined a day of fasting to protest the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.
The protest: a gesture of solidarity
The health workers showed their support to the civilian population by displaying a sign reading "Fasting against the genocide in Gaza." This initiative, as stated in a company statement, is intended as a symbol of solidarity and a reminder of the universal values of care, life, and respect for every human being.
A collective act against indifference
Director General Anna Iervolino defined the fast as a "symbol of sharing the pain and concrete support for those suffering and fighting for their lives in conditions of extreme deprivation." She also emphasized that it is not an individual act, but a "collective demonstration of women and men who, inside and outside hospitals, choose not to remain indifferent."
The hospital staff , who work every day to protect life, thus join the international chorus of voices calling for peace, respect for human rights, and dignity for every person, reiterating the importance of not turning away in the face of tragedy.
