Naples – A Ferragosto holiday dedicated to urban decorum. Mayor Gaetano Manfredi's extraordinary measures to ensure greater cleanliness and services in the city during the holidays will continue until Sunday.
The plan, coordinated by the Urban Decorum Committee established at the Municipality's General Directorate, involves participating companies, the Local Police, the Social Services Street Unit, and the relevant departments.
Asia is on the front line, busy washing bins for separate waste collection , cleaning the surrounding areas, washing bins and sidewalks in the busiest areas, as well as carrying out mechanical street sweeping, washing streets and weed control operations.
Operators went into action on some of the busiest streets in the center: Via Cesario Console, Via Toledo, Piazza Municipio, Via Medina, Via Monteoliveto, Piazza Trieste e Trento, Via Monte di Dio, Piazza Cavour, Piazza Carità and Piazza Dante.
It's not just waste. ABC workers have maintained and cleaned several city fountains, including those in Piazza Municipio, Piazza Cavour, the Scapigliata, and the Selleria. Napoli Servizi workers also cleaned Virgil's Tomb and the Galleria Umberto.
This operation, as Palazzo San Giacomo emphasizes, will not end with the August bank holiday weekend, but will continue in the coming weeks with planned interventions in other strategic areas of the city.

I think the urban decor plan is a good initiative, but I don't understand why there's always a need for special activities just for holidays. It would be better if it were kept clean year-round. Fountains are also important, but simply washing them isn't enough.
