Naples - An attempted robbery, assault, and failed escape occurred in the heart of Naples Central Station. It happened this morning, when a 21-year-old Tunisian national was arrested by the Railway Police in collaboration with the Campania Crime Prevention Unit, as part of the extraordinary security service called "Safe Stations."
According to investigators' reconstruction, the boy entered a well-known bar located near the railway station and attempted to steal the takings, threatening an employee of the business.
The situation escalated when, finding himself discovered and being chased by some customers who had intervened to stop him, the 21-year-old punched the clerk in the face in an attempt to escape.

But his escape was short-lived. Officers conducting checks in the station area noticed him and promptly stopped him, preventing worse consequences for those present. The young man, legally resident in Italy but with a criminal record for property crimes, was arrested on charges of attempted robbery and taken to the police station for formal formalities.
The incident has rekindled concerns about security in the capital's railway areas , especially during a period of high tourist traffic. For this reason, the Police Headquarters has announced that checks will continue and be intensified both at Naples Central Station and on board trains bound for the region's tourist destinations.

The news of the attempted robbery at Naples Central Station was deeply shocking for everyone. Station security must be a priority, especially during busy tourist periods like this. I hope security will be tightened.
