Pomigliano d'Arco – The Municipality of Pomigliano d'Arco will not be dissolved due to Camorra infiltration. The Ministry of the Interior made this decision with a decree signed on July 23 by Minister Matteo Piantedosi and made public today, putting an end to months of investigations and suspicions surrounding the administration led by Mayor Raffaele Russo.

The ruling, based on the report of the Access Commission appointed by the Prefecture of Naples, excludes any links between the Municipality and organized crime, certifying the absence of the requirements of "concreteness, univocality, and relevance" required by Article 143 of the Consolidated Law on Local Authorities to proceed with dissolution.

The inspection, launched in recent months to investigate alleged mafia influence in administrative activities, thoroughly examined records, documents, and testimonies. The conclusion is clear: there is no evidence of collusion with the Camorra.

Here are all the requirements imposed by the Ministry of the Interior on the Municipality

However, the Interior Ministry has imposed a series of requirements on the Municipality to strengthen legality and transparency. These include the adoption of directives for more rigorous anti-mafia controls, updating the supplier register to ensure rotation and equal treatment, strengthening checks on commercial permits, and more effective management of assets confiscated from organized crime.

Particular attention was required to reorganize the technical offices and the local police, with the aim of improving surveillance and prevention services.

Mayor Raffaele Russo made no secret of his satisfaction, calling the decree "an act of justice" for Pomigliano d'Arco. "Today, honor and dignity are restored to our city, its administration, and the City Council," he declared.

"We have always maintained, with our heads held high, that the Camorra has never had any place in this Palace. This decree is a seal of legality that silences falsehoods and insinuations." Russo then pointed the finger at "certain opposition forces," accusing them of fueling suspicion for political purposes, attempting to "tarnish the good name of Pomigliano."

"We move forward with even greater determination, serving our citizens and respecting the law," he concluded. The Interior Ministry's decision closes a controversial chapter for Pomigliano, an industrial and working-class city that in recent years has faced not only economic challenges but also the burden of suspicions that have tarnished its image.

The lack of evidence of Camorra infiltration represents a turning point, but the requirements imposed by the Ministry underscore the need for ongoing commitment to prevent the risk of criminal influence from recurring.

The local community, often at the center of political and social tensions, now looks to the future with the hope of a more transparent and robust administration. It remains to be seen how the Municipality will implement the Interior Ministry's recommendations and whether the requested measures will be sufficient to strengthen citizens' trust.

Meanwhile, Pomigliano d'Arco breathes a sigh of relief, but the warning is clear: legality is not a goal, but a daily commitment.
