It will be a first weekend of August marked by cool air and violent thunderstorms, especially in the North.
The instability will be caused by a cyclone arriving from Denmark, which will bring widespread rain and a sharp drop in temperatures just as millions of Italians are fleeing their summer vacation.
Meteorologists are predicting worsening weather conditions that will initially affect the northern regions, then spread to central Italy.
According to forecasts, showers and thunderstorms are expected across eastern Lombardy and the Triveneto region starting Friday afternoon. The situation will worsen further on Saturday, when the severe weather will hit the entire north with greater intensity, from Liguria to Romagna, also affecting northern Tuscany and the northern Marche.
Precipitation may be locally heavy and accompanied by strong gusts of wind. In these areas, maximum temperatures are unlikely to exceed 22 degrees Celsius, a sudden end to summer.
On Sunday, the low pressure system will continue to affect Romagna, Tuscany, and Marche, but its effects will gradually subside. In contrast, the rest of central and southern Italy will be sunny, with stable weather and pleasant temperatures, particularly in Lazio, Campania, Calabria, and Puglia.
The outlook for next week is positive: sunny weather will return across Italy, with temperatures gradually rising. This unstable period, therefore, won't ruin the summer, but could cause traffic disruption and travel delays during one of the busiest weekends for holiday traffic.
