San Giovanni a Piro – A tragedy that shook the entire Gulf of Policastro area, bordering the province of Salerno and the beautiful town of Maratea.
A mystery that is currently under investigation and remains unanswered. Fabrizio Tripari, 19, was found lifeless and charred during the night between Monday and Tuesday, at the bottom of a slope along the main road between Sapri and Acquafredda, shortly after the Canale di Mezzanotte, in the Basilicata region.
The investigation has been entrusted to the Carabinieri of the Lagonegro Company, who are trying to reconstruct the dynamics of the events.
At the moment, the prevailing theory is that it was a deliberate act, but investigators are not ruling out other possibilities. The nature of the fire and how the young man's body ended up in that isolated spot are also unclear.
Investigations underway and autopsy ordered
The Prosecutor's Office has ordered an autopsy on the young man's body, which will be performed in the coming days. Funeral arrangements can only be made after the body is returned to the family. Meanwhile, the entire community is grieving the Tripari family.
The Municipality of San Giovanni a Piro has canceled "all cultural and popular events scheduled for these days" as a sign of mourning for the tragic passing of Fabrizio Tripari, 19, a young and talented member of the "Maria SS. di Pietrasanta" Band Association, as depicted in one of the last photos published online.
"A terrible tragedy. Yet another. A shaken community," reads the official message released by the city administration through its social media channels. A minute's silence was also observed during today's City Council meeting, which was deemed "unpostponable."
