San Prisco – A raid by the Carabinieri of San Prisco, with the support of the Operations and Radiomobile Unit, put an end to the crime spree of a 34-year-old local man, who was arrested on charges of aggravated theft and robbery.
The man, a face already familiar to law enforcement, was nailed by a series of damning evidence: a stolen iPhone, valuable candlesticks stolen from a church, and a confession to a robbery at an MD supermarket.
It all began on July 27, when a report of the theft of an iPhone 15 Pro Max in Caserta sparked the investigation. Thanks to the device's GPS signal, the Carabinieri located the 34-year-old's home, where the smartphone sat on the kitchen table, like a carelessly displayed trophy.
But the discovery of the phone was just the beginning: during the search, the military found two threaded rods, linked to the theft of historic candelabras that occurred on August 25th in the church “Il Tempio dello Spirito” in Curti.
Completing the picture is a bicycle captured by surveillance cameras during the church robbery, also found in the apartment. Cornered, the 34-year-old broke down, confessing to a third crime: the day after the candlestick theft, he had robbed a local MD supermarket, stealing money and spreading fear.
The man, with no way out, was handcuffed and transferred to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison, pending his appearance in court. The iPhone and candlesticks were returned to their rightful owners, while the community breathed a sigh of relief at the end of this criminal escalation.
