Teverola – Tragedy struck overnight on the Appia highway, just outside Teverola. A 48-year-old man, Nicola Cimmino, a resident of Giugliano in Campania, lost his life after crashing his car into a tree.
The victim was traveling in a Mercedes B-Class when, for reasons still unclear, he suddenly lost control of the vehicle. The car left the road and, after a wild ride, crashed into a tree bordering the road, near a well-known local restaurant.
The impact was extremely violent: there was nothing that could be done for the driver; he died instantly. Emergency services arriving on the scene immediately after the alarm was raised were unsuccessful.
Carabinieri officers from the Aversa branch have begun investigations to reconstruct the accident. Initial investigations indicate no other vehicles were involved. The cause of the loss of control remains unclear: possible causes include drowsiness, sudden illness, or driving error.
