A new blow to the criminal economy of the Camorra has been dealt this morningattina by the Carabinieri of the Group of Torre Annunziata, who executed a precautionary custody order issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Court of Naples at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Prosecutor's Office.
The operation led to the arrest of a man believed to be close to the Gallo-Cavalieri clan, accused of waging a months-long campaign of terror against two pharmaceutical entrepreneurs.
The entrepreneurs' nightmare
It all began with the complaint filed on July 26th by an Oplonti businessman, followed closely by his partner. Both described to the police an ordeal that lasted nearly a year, marked by constant threats, demands for money and jobs, but also by violent and intimidating acts.
The arrested man didn't just talk: according to the investigation, he waited outside his victims' homes, damaged their cars, defaced their garages with threatening graffiti, and even doused one of their workplaces with flammable liquid, threatening to set it on fire.
The escalation of violence
The situation is said to have worsened dramatically between August 12th and 14th, when pressure and threats intensified, creating an unbearable climate of terror for the victims. It was precisely this escalation in violence that prompted investigators to expedite the execution of the precautionary measure.
Investigators are convinced that the man acted with a typical Camorra modus operandi, leveraging his alleged membership in the Gallo-Cavalieri clan through family ties. A criminal organization well-established in the territory of Torre Annunziata, who still today tries to impose her control through intimidation and violence.
After the arrest for extortion and intimidating acts, the man was transferred to the Secondigliano prison pending further developments in the trial. The investigation, coordinated by DDA of Naples and conducted by the Investigative Unit of the Carabinieri of Torre Annunziata, they continue to reconstruct all the details of this story.
