The decision came after a meeting at the Prefecture in Naples. "We are pleased to be able to report that the emergency has ended," said Raffaele De Luca, president of the Park Authority, "but we must not let our guard down. Cleanup activities and extensive checks remain underway to ensure the full safety of the area.
I urge everyone to exercise extreme caution and cooperate to prevent the risk of further fires: protecting Vesuvius is a shared responsibility that requires everyone's commitment."
Until the inspections are completed, access to the trails will remain prohibited. The Park reminds us that even the smallest gesture can contribute to protecting the volcano: avoiding reckless behavior, promptly reporting any outbreaks, and following the authorities' instructions are essential to protecting one of Italy's most precious natural heritage sites.
