Naples- An argument over a trivial matter, still unclear. A 17-centimeter-long blade. And the life of a nineteen-year-old hanging in the balance for hours in intensive care.
This is the dramatic outcome of yet another episode of youth violence that bloodied the neighborhood yesterday morning. ChiaiaA ferocious attack, culminating in two stab wounds, which almost turned into tragedy.
But in this story, alongside the horror, there is a tale of efficiency and speed of the police. Carabinieri The Chiaia Station police, in fact, have written a perfect case study on how to fight crime: closing the entire investigation and bringing the alleged attacker to justice in less than twelve hours.
The perpetrator of the attack is a minor, a sixteen-year-old from Naples, who was already arrested yesterday evening by the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office for attempted murder.
His victim, a nineteen, was violently stabbed: first in the arm and then in the abdomen. The second, devastating stab caused serious damage to the liver, forcing the young man to undergo immediate emergency surgery and be admitted to intensive care, where he is currently under observation.
The Carabinieri's lightning investigation
As soon as they arrived on site, the Carabinieri began a thorough, multidisciplinary investigation.

The investigation culminated in a review of video surveillance footage from the area, which provided visual confirmation of the suspect's dynamics and identity. Caught in the grip of such solid evidence, constructed in just a few hours, the young man's position became untenable.
The surrender and the discovery of the knife
Yesterday evening, accompanied by his parents and his lawyer, the sixteen-year-old presented himself voluntarily to the Carabinieri station in Largo Ferrandina. Before investigators, he gave statements that not only substantially confirmed the accusations, but also, more importantly, led to the crucial recovery of the murder weapon: the 17-cm-long knife with which he allegedly struck the two fatal blows.
The episode, as often happens in these dramatic chronicles of Naples, apparently arose from a "futile" motive, an insignificant pretext that violence transformed into a quasi-crime.
The precise causes are still being ascertained by investigators, but the bitter and familiar picture is that of a youth in which the recourse to extreme physical violence becomes the first, mad response to a disagreement.
The effectiveness of the Carabinieri of Chiaia prevented a foolish act from turning into a cold case, demonstrating that an immediate and coordinated investigation is the best antidote to impunity, even when the disturbing face of juvenile crime is at stake.
