Afragola – Yet another episode of domestic violence, unfortunately not isolated and symptomatic of an increasingly common trend: that of children turning into their parents' tormentors.
A 32-year-old man from Afragola, already known to law enforcement, was arrested by the State Police on charges of domestic violence, attempted extortion, and resisting a public official.
The incident occurred yesterday evening. The officers of the Police Stationpolice from Afragola, alerted by a report received by the operations room, intervened in a house where a violent fight had been reported.
When the police arrived, a man and a woman – husband and wife – appeared very agitated, reporting that they had been attacked by their son who was demanding money with threats and violence.

The 32 year old had gone away in the meantime, but returned shortly after, continuing to rant and threaten the Parents Even in the presence of the officers. His aggression didn't stop even when confronted by their uniforms: he resisted an attempt to restrain him, forcing the officers to subdue him with considerable difficulty. He was then arrested and taken to the police station.
This case, while serious, is not unique. In recent years, there has been a steady increase in incidents of domestic violence against parents, often elderly and unable to defend themselves. This form of abuse occurs within the home and rarely surfaces outside the home because many victims, out of shame or fear, do not report it.
Investigators emphasize that these incidents often stem from drug and alcohol addictions or situations of social distress that escalate into extortion and physical assault. This hidden but increasingly widespread phenomenon requires not only repressive intervention by law enforcement but also a strong support network for families.
Another case, therefore, that highlights the need to not lower our guard in the face of a silent tragedy: that of children who turn their parents into the first victims.

It's truly worrying to see how domestic violence is becoming an increasingly common problem. Young people should respect their parents and not attack them, but unfortunately, there are serious situations that lead to this. It's important to find solutions.
