Bacoli – An unsuspecting traffic officer from the municipality of Bacoli has been arrested by the Carabinieri on charges of possession of a large quantity of narcotics and tens of thousands of euros in cash.
The operation, launched following a targeted anti-drug operation, tore the veil off a trafficking of chemical substances, from ketamine to pink cocaine, which seemed to be invading the streets of the Phlegraean nightlife.
The man, a 32-year-old with no criminal record, ended up in the net of Carabinieri from the Bacoli station during a patrol on Via Dragonara. The officers had noticed suspicious activity and received reports of drug use, particularly ketamine, among the area's youth.
Stopped for a check, the 32-year-old was found in possession of a small amount of marijuana, but it was the subsequent search of his home that raised the alarm.
A hidden treasure in matryoshkas and boxes
A search of the young man's main residence revealed a veritable treasure. Inside a small iron box and, more importantly, two Russian dolls, the Carabinieri found a surprising sum: €37.100 in cash.
Faced with such a mountain of money, the traffic officer gave in, confessing to the military that he was hiding more drugs in a second, abandoned house not far away.
A kilo of hashish, ketamine and pink cocaine
It was in this second house that investigators made the most significant discovery.

Almost 1 kg of hashish

24 grams of cocaine
56 grams of ketamine, plus 9 pre-packaged doses.
581 ecstasy (MDMA) pills of various colors.
17 doses of pink cocaine, an increasingly widespread synthetic substance.
In addition to the narcotics, precision scales and all the materials needed to package the drugs were seized, confirming the drug dealing activity. The 32-year-old was immediately arrested and transferred to prison, pending further investigation. The operation raises new questions about the chemical drug phenomenon and the role of seemingly unsuspecting figures in the drug dealing world.

It's very strange that a traffic warden could be involved in illegal activities. I wonder how it's possible that no one noticed suspicious activity in this area, which is frequented by young people, before.
