Naples – The handover ceremony at the helm of the Ogaden Interregional Carabinieri Command took place yesterday morning in the evocative setting of the "della Vittoria" barracks in Naples.
In the presence of the General Commander of the Carabinieri, Lieutenant General Salvatore Luongo, Lieutenant General Marco Minicucci handed over command to Lieutenant General Nicola Massimo Masciulli. General Minicucci, who has led the Interregional Command since July 2, 2024, is leaving Naples to assume the exclusive role of Deputy General Commander of the Carabinieri in Rome.
In his place, General Masciulli, born in Vasto in 1964 and coming from the important role of Head of the Legislative Office of the Ministry of Defense, takes the reins of a crucial command, responsible for a territorially and operationally complex area.
The ceremony, which took place in front of the War Flag of the 10th Campania Carabinieri Regiment and a unit deployed in arms, saw the participation of a representation of Carabinieri from the territorial departments, retired members of the National Association of Carabinieri and Forestry, and representatives of the Professional Associations of a trade union nature among the military.
A particularly moving moment was the presence of the family of Marshal Carlo Legrottaglie, who tragically passed away a few days before his discharge, while carrying out his duty.

"The great Carabinieri family will always support his family," assured Minicucci, extending a warm thought to the relatives present. General Masciulli, in his speech, expressed deep emotion at his new assignment, emphasizing his commitment to enhancing the professionalism and dedication of the Carabinieri.
"The Carabinieri stations will remain the beating heart of our support to citizens, a bulwark of legality even in the most remote areas," he declared, highlighting the centrality of the relationship with communities. Commander General Luongo opened his speech with a moving greeting to Legrottaglie's widow, Eugenia Pastore, and her children, who were present at the ceremony.
He then remembered Vice Brigadier Salvo D'Acquisto, Gold Medal for Military Valor and venerable, commemorated 82 years after his sacrifice, underlining how figures such as Legrottaglie and D'Acquisto embody the "silent and generous service" that distinguishes the force.
Luongo praised the Carabinieri of the Ogaden Interregional Force for their daily commitment to combating insidious forms of crime, in a territory that requires technical expertise and human sensitivity. Addressing Generals Minicucci and Masciulli, the General Commander expressed gratitude for their service and wished them and their families well, emphasizing the force's role as "guardian of the values of legality and justice."
This morning, General Masciulli will pay tribute to Salvo D'Acquisto, in a symbolic gesture that strengthens the bond between the Carabinieri commanders and the memory of the Neapolitan hero, a symbol of sacrifice and dedication. The event reaffirmed the importance of the Carabinieri as a point of reference for the safety and trust of citizens, in a context of complex challenges and constant commitment to serving the country.
