A stage actor with nearly thirty years of experience reinventing himself as a writer, a daughter who becomes the creative spark, and a region, Campania, that comes to life in the pages of a thriller rich in mystery, history, and adventure.

This is the story of Giuseppe Puorto, an emerging author who with his book "The First Stone. The Secrets of the Palace" debut novel takes readers on a journey through enigmas, secret organizations and ancient secrets hidden within the walls of the Royal Palace of Caserta.

We interviewed him to find out how the idea was born, what inspired him, and what he has in store for the future.

"The inspiration? My daughter and my passion for theater."

Joseph Puerto he has no doubts: the idea for the book comes from the heart.

"My inspiration for writing the book was my first daughter," she says, "so much so that one of the main characters is named after her, Aurora. I'd long wanted to write, and my background in theater, albeit amateur, gave me the push. Initially, I wanted to write a comedy, but my passion for thrillers and adventure took over."

And so, from the first drafts, a plot was born that mixes mysteries, puzzles, and twists, with a deep connection to the territory.

The Royal Palace of Caserta as a silent protagonist

It is no coincidence that Campania, and in particular the Royal Palace of Caserta, are the beating heart of the novel.

"I chose the Royal Palace because I wanted to showcase our region from a different perspective. It's a place steeped in history, and my book interweaves real elements with a fictional plot. The reader finds themselves in a familiar setting, yet one filled with mysteries yet to be discovered."

And this is where the adventure begins: four young people, a mysterious parchment, and a series of puzzles that will lead them to the discovery of the first stone of the Royal Palace of Caserta. A discovery that will reveal ancient secrets linked to Vanvitelli, the king, and a powerful organization, all with a single goal: an ancient and powerful artifact.

A trilogy waiting to be discovered. The story doesn't end here. In fact, it's just the beginning.

"The book was born as the first part of a trilogy," reveals Giuseppe Puorto, "and I'm already working on the sequel. There are also other stories in the embryonic stage, all in the same vein."

A debut that promises emotions

With a style that combines a passion for history, the pace of a thriller, and a love for his homeland, Giuseppe Puorto delivers a debut that promises to leave its mark. His work invites us to look at the Royal Palace of Caserta and Campania with new eyes, through a compelling plot that blends fact and fiction, past and present, emotion and suspense.

For those who love mysteries, puzzles, and stories that keep you glued until the last page, this book is a must-have.

For those who wish to meet the author in person, Giuseppe Puorto will be present at the Campania Books Festival together with his publisher De Nigris to present the book from 2 to October at the Royal Palace of Naples.

I read the article and found it interesting, but there's a lot I don't quite understand. Giuseppe Puorto's story seems good, but I'm not sure I'll like the book. Mysteries and puzzles are always intriguing.
