A Sunday of peace and prayer turned into a nightmare in Grand Blanc, Genesee County, Michigan, United States. At least one person was killed and nine others, including children, were injured in a devastating shooting inside a Mormon church, CNN reported.
For Trump: "It was an attack on Christians."
The horror didn't stop there: the sacred building was reduced to ashes by a fire, which police believe was intentionally set by the attacker, now confirmed dead. The flames engulfed the place of worship, leaving a community in shock and an America stunned by an act of unprecedented violence.
According to police in Grand Blanc, a suburb of Flint about 50 miles (80 kilometers) from Detroit, the attack occurred on the morning of Sunday, September 28, 2025.
"The entire church is on fire," Sheriff Christopher Swanson declared, as emergency crews worked to evacuate trapped worshippers. Many of the injured are in serious condition, and authorities fear the death toll could rise. The brutality of the attack, combined with the intentional destruction of a sacred site, has deeply shocked the local and national community.

“A day of prayer and peace turned into such evil is unacceptable,” wrote Michigan Republican Representative John James on X, joining the chorus of condemnation for an act that strikes at the heart of religious freedom.
But how can we accept that, in 2025, a place of worship is desecrated with such ferocity? Those who oppose freedom of faith, those who fuel hatred against those who pray in peace, are attacking the fundamental values of our society.
This is not only a crime against a community, but an affront to anyone who believes in the right to practice their faith without fear. The violence that struck the church in Grand Blanc is a warning: religious intolerance is a scourge that continues to threaten our humanity. It's time to speak out against those who sow hatred and destruction, against those who seek to stifle freedom of worship with fire and weapons.

It's incredible that in 2025 we can still witness such attacks against places of worship. Violence doesn't lead to anything good; rather, it only increases fear among people who are simply seeking to worship in peace and quiet.
