Marcianise - The Caserta community is shaken by a new, heartbreaking tragedy At work. An explosion yesterday afternoon at the Ecopartenope waste treatment company in Marcianise claimed the lives of three workers: Antonio, Ciro, and Pasquale.

An unacceptable loss that has prompted the Bishop of Caserta and Capua, Monsignor Pietro Lagnese, to issue a very harsh statement, which goes beyond simple condolences for the victims.

The tragedy unfolded in a waste management company, but the grief spread like wildfire, reaching the homes of those who lost a father, a son, a brother.

"Condolences are not enough, but it is necessary to forcefully express our indignation", thundered Monsignor Lagnese, echoing a cry of pain and anger that has been raised too many times in the face of fatal accidents which repeat themselves with alarming frequency.

The Bishop's words are a heartfelt appeal to the collective conscience, a reflection on the vulnerability of those who, every day, leave home to earn a living and never return. Lagnese also cited the words of Pope Francesco, who defined workplace safety as "like the air we breathe", something we only notice when "it is tragically missing, and it is always too late".

"Every fatal accident is a defeat for everyone."

According to the Bishop, every fatal accident is not only a defeat for families and colleagues, but for society as a whole. To defeat this scourge, a "comprehensive approach" involving all stakeholders is necessary: "It is essential to invest in the training of workers and employers; it is important for the state to implement more rigorous controls, which will serve as a stimulus to accident prevention."

And he concluded with an unequivocal message to businesses: "Safety cannot be considered a cost, but an investment, because it protects human life, which is the most precious gift God the Father has given us." The request is clear: no more accidental deaths, it's time to act.

What happened is very sad, and I can't believe there were three deaths in a workplace accident. It's important for companies to take worker safety seriously and not just focus on profits, especially since it's unacceptable to lose a life on the job.
