Nocera – A night of fire and fear struck the industrial area of Nocera Superiore, in the province of Salerno, where a large fire broke out in a warehouse along Via Lamia.
The flames, which started shortly before midnight, quickly engulfed a company specializing in metal packaging, causing the collapse of a large wing of the building, particularly the painting wing.
Despite the drama of the fire, visible for kilometers away due to the very high and dense column of black smoke, no injuries or poisoning were reported.
Intervention of the firefighters
The alarm was raised around midnight, with dozens of calls to the Fire Department switchboard. A massive deployment of equipment and personnel immediately arrived on the scene: several firefighter teams, supported by four fire engines and a ladder truck, worked tirelessly to put out the flames.
The operations, coordinated by the head of department and the officer on duty, also focused on protecting adjacent structures and homes to prevent the fire from spreading further.

The criticality of the intervention was exacerbated by the presence of several Enel reduction cabins in the affected area, making the electricity company's immediate intervention necessary to secure the area.
Environmental alert and mayoral ordinance
In parallel with the firefighting operations, authorities have activated a monitoring system. The Carabinieri, the Municipal Police, and, crucially, ARPAC (Campania Regional Agency for Environmental Protection) have also responded to the disaster site. The agency will conduct environmental surveys to assess the potential impact of the smoke on air quality.
As a precaution, the mayor of Nocera SuperioreGennaro D'Acunzi issued an urgent ordinance (previously announced via social media) urging residents to observe precautionary measures: close doors and windows, turn off air conditioning and ventilation systems, and clear streets to facilitate the passage of emergency vehicles.
Cleanup and final extinguishing operations continued throughout the night. The cause of the fire remains unclear, and law enforcement has launched an investigation.

It was a very strange and worrying event; the flames were visible from afar and the situation seemed very serious. I hope the cause of the fire is discovered as soon as possible to avoid future problems.
