Naples – Maximum vigilance surrounds Don Maurizio Patriciello, the priest who is a symbol of the fight against crime in the Land of Fires, who has once again found himself the target of threats and intimidation. The alert was confirmed by Naples Police Chief Maurizio Agricola, who spoke this morning on the sidelines of the celebrations for Saint Michael the Archangel, patron saint of the State Police, held in the church of San Giovanni a Carbonara.
“We are not backing down”
"I heard Father Patriciello yesterday. The alert is at its highest, as the Interior Minister also emphasized. "We will not give up and we will not retreat from this point of view," Agricola declared, reiterating the institutions' full support for the parish priest of Caivano, who has been on the front lines against local clans for years.
The perception of insecurity
Asked whether Naples was returning to being perceived as unsafe, the police commissioner ruled out this view: “I don't think that's the issue.

The presence of the police
On the operational front, Agricola noted that a widespread presence of various law enforcement agencies is already guaranteed across the country: "We have Carabinieri, Police, Guardia di Finanza, and other agencies. We are well-organized and have the resources to carry out our work. Reinforcements arrive regularly, and when they arrive, they will be welcome."
A united front
The police commissioner's statements thus confirm the institutions' commitment to not abandoning the symbols of civil resistance against organized crime. Father Patriciello, who has already been the target of threats several times for his pastoral and social work, remains under special surveillance.

It's worrying to hear of new threats to Don Patriciello, a man who works so hard for the community. We hope that law enforcement can ensure his safety and that crime won't prevail during this difficult time.
