All Film Festival Venice 2025, the audience witnessed a moment of pure emotion: the preview of the documentary “Nino. 18 days” brought to the big screen the most intimate and authentic face of Nino D'Angelo, an icon of Italian music and cinema.
Directed by his son Toni D'AngeloThe film delves into the memories of a whirlwind career and a life marked by successes, struggles, and rebirths. But above all, it recounts a father-son relationship that had to overcome distance, misunderstandings, and silences to find each other again through art.
From the spotlight to silence: Nino recounts his inner struggle.
In the room, Nino didn't hide his emotion. With a firm but emotional voice, he recalled the difficult times of the '90s, when, despite his success, he felt trapped in a gilded prison. "Depression," he confessed, "made me collapse when I had everything. It was a tunnel, but also a rebirth: from there I understood who I really was."
Words that touched the audience to the heart, because they reveal the most fragile side of an artist who has always given smiles and music to his audiences.
A title that speaks of time and distance
The name of the documentary, “18 days”, is not a coincidence.
