Paupisi - A new tragedy of domestic violence has rocked Campania, a region already plagued by a long string of femicides. In Paupisi, a small town in the Sannio region, a woman was stoned to death by her husband, who fled the scene after the attack.

The victim was Elisa Polcino, 43. The man wanted is her husband, Salvatore Ocone, 45.

According to initial reports, the tragedy occurred in the Frasso district, in the Paupisi countryside, at dawn this morning. The murder apparently occurred shortly after 8:00 a.m., following a violent argument.

It's still unclear what triggered the man's outburst, but according to rumors gathered among neighbors, the couple had been experiencing a relationship marked by tension and problems for some time.

The extreme hypothesis of suicide has not been ruled out. The reports from the villagers, who awoke in shock, have been crucial in these hours.

Further adding to the community's anguish is Mayor Salvatore Coletta's statement: "In addition to the victim's husband, the couple's children are also missing, and this is our greatest concern."

Two of the children are still in compulsory school, while a third child, an adult, was not at home at the time of the tragedy. It's unclear whether the children were taken to school this morning, a detail that makes the story even more disturbing.

The mayor expressed the entire community's grief: "The news left us stunned. It was a family that apparently showed no signs of distress and was not being followed by social services. I saw the couple a few days ago, at a party: they seemed happy. Perhaps we failed to recognize the signs of a developing distress."

Carabinieri from the Benevento branch and the forensic team are working at the crime scene to clarify every detail of the incident and gather crucial evidence.

A new femicide, silently committed within the confines of their homes, adding to a growing list in Campania, marked by stories of pain, loneliness, and violence. Meanwhile, in Paupisi, an entire village awaits news of their children and prays that this tragedy doesn't turn into an even greater one.

This story is truly sad and makes us think about how complex family relationships can be. The community must remain united to support one another in such difficult times, even if signs of distress aren't always apparent.
