Carabinieri raid: 18-year-old already known to police arrested with hashish, marijuana, and a drug-dealing arsenal.
SAN GIORGIO A CREMANO – Fleeing on foot as soon as he spotted the patrol wasn't enough. An attempt to escape was quickly thwarted by the intervention of the Carabinieri. Ciro Improta, an 18-year-old from Naples, was arrested for possession of drugs with intent to sell and resisting a public officer.
Last night, Carabinieri officers from the San Giorgio a Cremano station noticed him deep in conversation with a peer. This behavior aroused the officers' suspicions, which quickly became clear when the young man, noticing their presence, attempted to quickly run away. The Carabinieri followed him and stopped him before he could escape.
The personal search left no room for doubt: in his pockets were two bags of marijuana and nine sticks of hashish ready for sale.

But it was the subsequent search of his home that revealed the true extent of the illicit activity. The officers found a veritable drug dealing kit: a precision scale used to accurately measure the goods, a grinder to crush the drugs, and a large quantity of approximately 200 sachets, ready for packaging.
For the 18-year-old, already known to law enforcement, there was no escape. After the usual formalities, Ciro Improta was taken to prison, where he will remain pending court sentencing.
The operation demonstrates, once again, the Carabinieri's constant attention to the local area in the fight against drug dealing, a phenomenon that particularly affects the younger generations.

It's incredible how young people are increasingly involved in illegal activities. More effective intervention is needed, perhaps with prevention and awareness programs to prevent situations like this from happening again.
