In Campania, a heated debate has erupted within the center-right. Forza Italia is pushing for a "civil society" candidate, supported by civic lists and capable of attracting a more transversal consensus. Fratelli d'Italia, on the other hand, as the coalition's majority party, is forcefully relaunching the name of Edmondo Cirielli, former president of the Province of Salerno and a long-standing figure in regional politics.
The regional commissioner of FdI, Antonio Iannone, reiterated this bluntly:
«Our Party, first of the coalition both in the general and European elections, has said for some time that it is for a political choice, identifying Edmondo Cirielli as the best name for the completeness of his curriculum and electoral demonstrations given.».
These words sound like a clear stance: Brothers of Italy has no intention of leaving room for compromise. The game, in short, will not be played on abstract formulas or the balance of alliances, but on the strength of candidates considered solid and well-established.
The "split" that worries the center-right
The topic of candidacies is heating up spirits and raising tensions.

The message is clear: unity is vital, but it cannot be separated from a recognition of the political weight of the Brothers of Italy.
At the national level, according to the commissioner, every voice must be respected, but consistency is essential: premature statements and rushed decisions only risk weakening the coalition.
Campania cannot remain "in Fico's hands"
Iannone doesn't hide behind formalities and speaks bluntly: "We can't abandon Campania after ten years of De Luca and Fico." A warning that captures the fears of some in the center-right: missing the opportunity to overturn the outgoing administration and handing the region over to a new center-left era.
Strategy and internal tensions
The situation remains complex: on one side, Forza Italia is pushing for a civic, less politically charged face, while on the other, FdI is claiming a strong choice with Cirielli. This conflict risks turning into a grueling tug-of-war, just as Campania's citizens are demanding stability and a credible plan for the future.
The feeling is that Brothers of Italy is already setting the pace and actions for the election campaign, determined not to let its allies dictate its line. But the real challenge will be internal: mending the rift and presenting a united front, or risk leaving Campania once again in the hands of the center-left.

The discussion between Forza Italia and Fratelli d'Italia seems very complex and tense. I don't know if Cirielli is really the right name, but I see disagreements about how to move forward.
