Caivano – Another heavy blow to drug trafficking has been dealt by the PoliceState yesterday afternoon, as part of the extraordinary services ordered by the Naples Police Headquarters to combat the illegal possession of weapons and drug dealing.
A 46-year-old man, resident in Caivano, was arrested on charges of illegal possession of narcotics. The officers of the Afragola Police Station, engaged in a territorial control operation, noticed a car proceeding at low speed in Via Scotta, in the heart of Caivano.
The driver, acting suspiciously, appeared to be waiting for someone. The officers' prudence led to the organization of a stakeout, which proved decisive. Moments later, a second vehicle approached the suspect. The 46-year-old made a quick exchange, handing over an item to the passenger of the other vehicle in exchange for money.
A clear sign of possible drug dealing. However, the two drivers, noticing the police presence, attempted to flee in opposite directions, sparking a chase. Thanks to the officers' prompt action, the driver of the first vehicle was apprehended a short distance away.
The search confirmed the suspicions: the 46-year-old was found in possession of 13 packages containing cocaine and 530 euros in cash, divided into banknotes of various denominations, presumably the proceeds of the illegal activity.
The arrested man was immediately taken into custody, while investigations continue to identify the second individual involved in the exchange and to further investigate the drug dealing activity in the area.
The police operation is part of a broader plan to combat crime in the Caivano area, an area long under scrutiny by law enforcement due to drug trafficking.
This latest arrest confirms the Naples Police Headquarters' ongoing commitment to cracking down on organized crime and drug trafficking, with the goal of restoring safety and legality to the local community.
