Naples – A very hard blow for the super clan formed by the alliance between the Giulianos and the Mazzarellas, who had decided to conquer the alleys of the historic center of Naples through extortion, drugs, and violence.
The first-instance trial, held under an abbreviated procedure and concluded yesterday afternoon, ended with a real blow: over three centuries of prison and 25 convictions.
The judge largely accepted the requests made by the DDA prosecutors, Carrano and Rossi, recognizing the criminal scope of the alliance between the Mazzarella and Giuliano clans, who aimed to divide up Forcella , La Maddalena, the San Gaetano district and the Case Nuove.
Only four defendants were fully acquitted because they "did not commit the crime": Giovanni Capuano, Domenico De Martino, Luigi Esposito, and Giuseppe Mauro. The reasons for the sentence will be filed within sixty days.
The investigation by the DDA
The investigation, conducted jointly by the police and the Carabinieri, under the coordination of the Naples DDA , has reconstructed the criminal organization's extensive network of illicit activities. There are two main lines of investigation:
The first, developed between January 2020 and the second half of 2021, documented the birth and rise of the organization led by Salvatore Giuliano, who had made a pact with the Mazzarellas for control of drug dealing and extortion hubs.
The second, between the end of 2018 and January 2022, instead reconstructed the structure and operations of the so-called “paranza di San Gaetano”, directed by the Mazzarella boss, Salvatore Barile.
An alliance that, according to the criminal groups, was supposed to mark the reconquest of the ancient heart of Naples. The sentence, however, dealt a severe blow to the leaders and followers of that new Camorra alliance.

The sentence appears to be very severe, but perhaps necessary to combat organized crime. I hope these convictions will lead to greater safety for the citizens of Naples and a decrease in violence.
