An area of approximately 3.200 square meters in Pastorano, in the province of Caserta , was seized by the Caserta provincial police , along with the army and technical personnel from ARPAC, after discovering a veritable illegal landfill. Approximately 10.000 cubic meters of industrial waste were found on the site, including plastic and rubber materials, sheathing, and processing residues, all highly flammable and hazardous to the environment.

Investigations revealed that the area had already been seized years ago, without ever being remediated as required by the competent authorities. For this reason, the manager was reported to the judicial authorities for the construction and management of the illegal landfill and for violations of environmental regulations.

"We can no longer accept our land being violated by unscrupulous individuals," declared Anacleto Colombiano, President of the Province of Caserta . "Discussions are underway with the Prefecture to strengthen controls throughout the province. The fight against environmental crimes will be increasingly effective: protecting the environment and the health of citizens must remain our priority."

It's truly disconcerting that illegal landfills like the one in Pastorano still exist, especially after it was seized years ago. We must do more to protect the environment and the health of citizens, otherwise nothing will change.
