Caserta– A vast expanse of piled-up waste, including plastic and wood, a three-wheeler reduced to scrap, and a plot of land transformed into an open-air landfill . This was the scene encountered by Carabinieri officers from the Santa Maria Capua Vetere station yesterday afternoon, during a targeted operation to combat environmental crimes.
Following the investigation, a 33-year-old local woman, owner of a fruit and vegetable shop, was reported at large on charges of illegal waste management.
The discovery
The inspection involved a plot of land measuring approximately 200 square meters on the outskirts of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, where officers found approximately 20 cubic meters of waste piled up that had not been disposed of properly. Plastic materials, wood scraps, and various packaging were traced back to the woman's business.
In the area, in a complete state of decay, a Piaggio Ape three-wheeler was also found, without license plates or chassis number, which had been abandoned among the rubbish for some time.

The entire area has been seized, while investigations continue to determine whether the waste accumulation has caused more extensive environmental damage. The investigation will also determine whether there are additional responsibilities beyond those attributed to the shop owner.
