Moments of fear and disbelief erupted in the emergency room of the Pineta Grande clinic in Castel Volturno , where a 33-year-old doctor was physically assaulted by an 18-year-old patient. The incident occurred around 3:00 PM, when the young man, already known to law enforcement, suddenly slapped the doctor on the head while he was in the waiting room.
The action, which occurred without any apparent reason, took both the medical staff and the patients present by surprise. The Carabinieri of the Mondragone Operations and Radiomobile Unit immediately intervened, detaining the young man and filing a complaint for aggravated assault.
The doctor, assisted by colleagues, was examined at the same facility and discharged shortly thereafter with a prognosis of three days. His condition is not cause for concern. The Judicial Authority will now evaluate possible measures against the attacker, while the investigation continues to clarify the motives for the attack.
It's truly incredible how a young man could attack a doctor for no apparent reason. This incident makes us reflect on hospital safety and how we should handle patients with problems; it's unacceptable.
