Rome. In a global context characterized by increasingly sophisticated and pervasive hybrid threats, the urgency of an operational alliance between nations in the field of cybersecurity becomes increasingly evident. Cybercrime, digital interference, and the malicious use of emerging technologies require shared strategies and structured cooperation tools that transcend national borders. This is the context for the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Cyber Security Foundation, the first nonprofit foundation in Italy dedicated to cyber, and the Cyber Crimes Center, led by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the investigative branch of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

THEagreement It strengthens the collaboration between Italy and the United States in understanding and preventing cyber threats and is part of the activities already underway by the Cyber Security Foundation in the United States, where the organization has gained significant experience in dialogue and institutional cooperation, laying the foundation for a structured discussion on the main cyber threats globally.

Among the key points of the agreement are the development of information sharing capabilities to understand and anticipate cyber threats, including through the production of specialized reports. Particular attention will also be paid to the analysis of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing.

The agreement, which will initially last for one year, provides for additional collaboration opportunities through the development of enhanced training programs and specialized research and development. "This agreement underscores the Cyber Crime Center and Homeland Security Investigation's unwavering commitment to fostering and strengthening critical international partnerships to combat cybercrime," said Michael Prado, Deputy Assistant Director, Cyber Crimes Center (C3) at DHS. "Cybercrime poses a significant threat to the economic security, public safety, and national security of the United States and its allies. By leveraging the collective expertise and resources of DHS, HSI, and our global partners, we can more effectively address this ever-evolving and complex challenge."

Marco Gabriele Proietti, president and founder of the Cyber Security Foundation, welcomed the signing of the agreement. "This agreement should be a source of pride not only for the individual organizations involved, but also for its international dimension within the current geopolitical framework, where cyber threats can impact and undermine even modern democracies. Strengthening dialogue and cooperation with a strategic partner like HSI is not only a response to current challenges, but also an investment in the security of future generations. Italy has the expertise to play a leading role in a global cyber defense network."
