A police operation turned tragic in Reggio Emilia, where a 42-year-old man died after being tasered during an arrest.
The victim is Claudio Citro, a resident of Reggio but originally from Salerno, with several criminal records and a previous involvement in an investigation into usury and extortion.
According to initial reports, around 5:30 a.m., the man allegedly went on a rampage in the hamlet of Massenzatico. When the patrol arrived, the situation escalated: the officers used a stun gun to subdue him. Shortly thereafter, the 42-year-old felt unwell.
Despite resuscitation attempts by 118 and his transport to the emergency room at Santa Maria Nuova, there was nothing that could be done for him.
The Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances. Toxicology tests will be ordered to determine whether the victim had consumed alcohol or drugs. Meanwhile, forensic police are conducting tests, while investigators are trying to reconstruct the various phases of the operation, which is considered complex.
In 2016 he was arrested for extortion and usury in Reggio Emilia
Citro was a well-known face to law enforcement in Emilia Romagna. In 2016, he was arrested by police along with Neapolitan Giuseppe Caso for a ring of threats, extortion, and loan sharking against several businessmen in Reggio Emilia.

What happened in Reggio Emilia is very sad. A man's life ended in such a brutal manner. A thorough investigation is needed to truly understand what happened before the taser attack. The situation was very complicated.
