Rome – It was a busy night in the Tiburtina Station square, where Carabinieri officers from the Roma Nomentana Station conducted an operation that led to the charges against three men aged 18, 23, and 31, all originally from Naples and with prior convictions for fraud.
The three, stopped in a rental car during a routine check, were unable to provide a convincing explanation for their presence in the area, arousing the suspicions of the police.
The Carabinieri 's hunch proved correct: following a personal and vehicle search, they found and seized numerous valuables, including necklaces, rings, a watch, and a cell phone, all made of gold and of dubious origin.
The three individuals were taken to the police station for questioning and, following the investigation, were charged with conspiracy to receive stolen goods. The seized items are now being examined by investigators, who do not rule out the possibility that they may be the result of scams perpetrated in the capital during the day.
Investigations are continuing to clarify the source of the material and determine any possible links to criminal incidents reported in the city. The Carabinieri operation is part of the increased surveillance of Rome's sensitive areas, an ongoing effort to combat predatory crime and ensure the safety of citizens.
