Rome – A technical fault on the Rome-Naples railway line caused significant disruption to travelers this morning, Wednesday, September 24.
Starting at 6:00 a.m., traffic was severely slowed between Minturno and Sessa Aurunca, forcing Trenitalia to issue a warning of significant delays for regional and intercity trains, with travel times that could increase up to 90 minutes.
The situation, constantly monitored by the company, has also necessitated extraordinary measures on some long-distance trains, with the cancellation of stops, alternative routes, and cancellations . The list of the most affected trains, updated at 8:15 a.m., captures a morning of extremely critical conditions.
Trains with modified itineraries or cancelled stops:
ICN 1960 Siracusa-Rome Termini: The train terminated its journey at Naples Central Station. Passengers headed to Rome Termini have been rerouted to the IC 510 Salerno-Turin Porta Nuova. Passengers scheduled to reach Formia and Latina can continue from Naples on the same IC 510 to Rome, where they will be rerouted by Customer Service.
IC 582 Salerno-Rome Termini: Rerouted via Cassino, bypassing the Formia and Latina stops. Passengers heading to Formia were directed to take the regional train R 21060 from Aversa, while for Latina, the regional train R 12732 was directed.
IC 510 Salerno-Turin Porta Nuova: This train was also diverted via Cassino, skipping the stops at Formia and Latina. Passengers were directed to the next available train from Rome Termini.
Trains delayed by more than 60 minutes:
In addition to the trains with route changes, the following are significantly delayed, with delays of over an hour:
ICN 1956 Syracuse-Rome Termini
ICN 1963 Milan Central-Syracuse
ICN 899 Turin Porta Nuova-Salerno
Trenitalia recommends passengers check the real-time status of their journey via the website or app before going to the station. Customer service is available to assist travelers in finding alternative solutions.

Today I tried to take the train from Rome to Naples, but it was a disaster. I didn't know the trains would be so delayed, and there was almost no clear information about when they would depart. I felt very frustrated.
