The investigation, which culminated in the conviction, demonstrated the systematic and ongoing nature of the violence, a typical pattern in these cases, where psychological and physical abuse becomes routine.

The arrest, while an act of justice for the victim, is the tip of the iceberg of a dramatically widespread phenomenon.
