Milan – New legal troubles for Baby Gang, the stage name of 23-year-old Zaccaria Mouhib, one of the most controversial trappers on the Italian scene. The artist was arrested by the Lecco Carabinieri, with the support of their Milanese counterparts, after being caught in a hotel in the Lombardy capital with a pistol with an erased serial number.
The arrest was made in flagrante delicto on charges of possession of an unlicensed weapon and receiving stolen goods. The investigation, coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office, also took officers to Calolziocorte, in the Lecco area, where Baby Gang has a residence. During the search, investigators found two additional guns hidden in a room. A man was present in the home, whose whereabouts are currently being ascertained.
The origins of the investigation
The investigation that led to the Trapper 's arrest dates back to January 2024, when a man was arrested with drugs and a fully functional AK47 assault rifle, manufactured formerly in Czechoslovakia, along with ammunition. Ballistic and digital tests allowed the Carabinieri to link that weapon to the presence in the music videos of Baby Gang and Simba La Rue (real name Mohamed Lamine Saida, born in 2002), another trapper of North African origins, already arrested and detained in the same proceeding.
According to investigators, the images from the clips circulated online provided a crucial clue to the origin and availability of the weapons.
A career between music and the courts
Baby Gang, originally from Lecco but artistically raised in Milan, has been one of the most controversial figures in Italian trap music for years. Beloved by a large segment of young audiences, he has often intertwined street stories with real-life legal incidents: convictions for robbery, resisting arrest, and brawling have already landed him in trouble with the law on several occasions.
His style, which mixes social commentary and ostentation of a life of crime, has fueled debate and controversy, making him a divisive figure in the Italian musical and cultural landscape.
The judiciary's next moves
The trapper will now face a judge to answer new charges related to illegal weapons. The investigation aims to clarify not only the origin of the gun found in the hotel and the two found in the house, but also any possible links to broader criminal networks.
